Thanks, Lisa. I'm sorry if I sounded terribly negative in my blog post about the benefit concert. I just think that the State Theater staff should have taken some responsibility for crowd control at this event. I'm strongly supportive of the work that Shale Shock is doing and I'm pleased that there is so much community support here for Shale Shock.

I think it was in the fall of 1996, and then I took another class with him about a year later. I think his art is wonderful. And the lessons that he taught, although I didn't feel I fully understood him at the time, have stuck with me, and even now all these years later I still think about the things that he said during those drawing classes. His whole approach to art, to thinking about art, looking at art, and confronting the challenges posed by the creative process, have influenced my own creative work significantly.

David was fantastic. When did you take his class? I think it was around 1998 that I took it -- perhaps I was your classmate? His drawings and video work is great as well.

Hello -

I ran across this post some time ago while looking for something else, and have been meaning to drop you a note ever since. I was at this wonderful concert too (and most of their other ones as well). Just wanted to let you know that you've also got a lute song duo in town. We're fairly new to the area too, so we're still working on building a local audience, and we usually have to convince people that they might be interested in this music. Looks as if Tony Rooley and Emma Kirkby have paved the way for us in your case, bless them! So if you're free on Friday night, (10/2/09) come on out to St. Thomas's church in Slaterville. We'd love to meet you.

Sounds like you've got the right outlook to be a 'burner. But please lose the "because I’m kind of an old geezer" attitude. Age ain't nothin' but a number! Burning Man isn't just about those few precious weeks in August/September -- but all year long. Have you looked into various "regional" burner events that go on, not only throughout the year, but all over the world?
